Market Landscape: Look-Alike Workflow

Workflows help you to accomplish certain tasks using Market Landscape.

In this guide, the Look-Alike Wizard will be explained. Using this workflow you can find scientists that have a similar profile to a list of preselected authors.

You can start this workflow by going to the Workflow tab in the navigation menu.

Then select Look-alike Wizard from the items.

Step 1 : Selecting the author

Use the searchbar on the top of the page to search for author names. Type in an author name for which you want to find similar scientists.

This can be one of your best customers, or a well known key opinion leader.

Then select the the correct author based from the results by clicking on the Add button on the right side of the author card:

For each author you can view a summary of AI generated topics and methods. You can find these on the author card underneath the author's name.

Now you will see the AI Generated keywords on the right side of the screen. These are all the topics and methods that are related to your selected authors.

You can add as many authors as you like to the list by searching the name and adding them.

To go to the next step, you can click on the Next: Create Segment button.

Step 2 : Making the Segment

The next step is to make a simple segment by adding keywords to the blocks on the right side of the screen. You can do so by clicking on the keyword and selecting the block you want to add the keyword to.

You can add additional blocks to categories the keywords you are selecting. By default we give you the "Topics" and "Methods" blocks, but you can add as many blocks as you want.

It's essential to mention there is an AND relation between the blocks. The segment will only match an author if at least 1 keyword from each block is found on one of the author's papers.

When you finished selecting and adding keywords, you can click on the Next: Fetch Result button

Step 3

In the third step, you can review the results of your newly created segment. The results show on the right side of the screen.

You can apply simple filters to dig a little deeper into the results. With these filters, you can make sure the segment is accurate enough.
The available filters include:
Author Name
Author Position (First author / Last author)
Institute Name
Country

Congratulations, your segment is ready and now you can use it in all Scitodate tools such as the Prospector, Market Analyzer, Market Feed and more!

Click on Next: Save and Open in Prospector button to save your segment and view it in the Prospector
