Intelliscope: Search Guide
Intelliscope Search Guide
Automatic Searching
Searching with Intelliscope will mostly be automatic, as it will search webpages for scientist names in the background.
When Intelliscope searches for scientist names on pages like LinkedIn, Google Scholar and ResearchGate.
If it finds a matching scientist, it will inform you by the red badge.
Clicking on the chip will open the application on the search page. There may be multiple scientists with the same name. On the search page you can choose which scientist you are currently looking for.
Manual Searching
If Intelliscope doesn't find what you are looking for, you can always do a manual search. Open Intelliscope by clicking on the chip and enter a scientist name. You can optionally add an affiliation to narrow down your search. Start the search by clicking on the "search" button.
You can use the information on the search results to identify the right scientist profiles. Sometimes, the profile may be split into two or more profiles. This may happen if the scientist has worked on widely different topics or worked in a different country in the past.
If you cannot find the right scientist profile, try removing or adding the middle name initials
Sometimes scientists use an alternative spelling. Try replacing characters like "ü" by "ue".
Right Click Search
Another handy way of searching is by using the "right-click" search method. If you find a scientist's name anywhere on the web, you can select (highlight) it, and right click the selected text.
Select the option "Intelliscope by Scitodate" from the context menu, and choose if you want to use the selected text as scientist name or affiliation name. Clicking the option will populate the search field and start an Intelliscope search.
