Intelliscope: Setting up Mentions

Setting Up “Mentions”

What are Mentions?

A mention is a brief reference to someone or something. Therefore, “Mentions” is also the name of the feature in Intelliscope that allows you to search through papers and grants to see where they mention your company, your competitors, their various brands and products.

Below you will find a handy video explaining how to set up Mentions. Please scan the text below for extra handy tips!

Setting up your Mentions

First, click on the gear icon in the right top of Intelliscope and choose "Settings" in the pop-up menu.

If you are a part of multiple teams using Scitodate, make sure to select the appropriate Workspace.

Workspaces

Begin by clicking the "Add Company" button to specify the company you want to search for.

On the next page you will see a step by step process to configure your search settings.

Click on "Add Company" to get started with company mentions

Step 1 - Automatic company and product highlights

Here you will see a short description of the Mentions feature. Click the “Next Step” button.

Step 3 - Relationship to company

Step 4 - Alternate company names

Add the various ways that a scientist might mention this company’s name. After each entry, hit “Enter” on your keyboard. Click “Next Step” when you have finished adding entries.

Scientists may only mention the subsidiary or an older version of your company's name, so be sure to add those as well.

Step 5 - Product names

Add the various company products that you think would be used or mentioned by your target audience. Also, add the different ways a scientist might refer to this product. After each entry, hit “Enter” on your keyboard. Click “Save” when you have finished.

Adding ‘product mentions’ could show how, where and why a product is used - potentially creating valuable talking points or insights.

Where to find data from your Mentions

When you search for a scientist’s profile, there are several locations where you can see the results of your Mentions.

You will always see a small microscope icon by the Mentions information.

Overview tab

Go to the scientist's statistics at the top of the “Overview” tab. There you can compare how many times your company has been mentioned versus your competitors.

See the numbers under the microscope icon.

You can also see if there are any mentions within segments your team has created using our Market Landscape platform. Under the Scitodate Segments section, go to "Companies". The number here indicates the amount of companies that exactly match the criteria of the Mention(s) you created.

These lists also show up on Collaborator and search cards.
Product mentions only can be seen when you expand the article to “View matched terms”.
